How To Be A Successful Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs and small business success

In this interview with Michael Gerber, author of many business success books, he talks about a new age of entrepreneurship.

As always, Gerber looks for a higher or deeper reason for what drives success in business and is not always easy to fully understand.

Have a look at this video and then read my dot point summary of what I think he means.

My summary of the key points made by Michael Gerber are:

  • Most business owners are technicians working in the business rather than true entrepreneurs – they spend all their time working on the tactical elements of business life rather than being strategic in how to achieve their goals.
  • Every entrepreneur can be successful regardless of their background, history and upbringing.
  • Entrepreneurs are creators – you need to recapture the imagination you had as a child and create the business you are passionate about.
  • Creative imagining is what you need to do before you start to write your business plan.
  • Successful entrepreneurs continue to create within the business as it matures – innovation needs energy and time to develop, and you need to make sure you don’t get swallowed up in the day to day tasks of your business. As we always hear, take the time to work ON your business rather than always working IN the business.
